Guidance and Planning

We recognize that preparation and practice is the key to success. We begin preparing our students for graduation and college entrance exams early. We want them to feel confident and comfortable when it counts. Please view our scheduling guide to get started.

CAC Role Model Applications

As part of their missions, the Decatur County Community Action Coalition (CAC) and Greensburg Prevention Group (GPG) strive to decrease substance abuse and related behaviors by promoting healthy choices in Decatur County and Greensburg. To that end, the CAC and GPG have implemented a student Role Model Program “Be the Wall.” Be the Wall is building a wall between Decatur County teens and substance abuse. Seventh grade and junior year students are eligible to apply as student role models. For additional information, including eligibility requirements, please see the role model letter.

Indiana College Core

Do you want to get a head start on college? The Indiana College Core allows high school students to earn 30 general education credits that can be transferred as a block to any public college or university in Indiana, as well as some private institutions. In other words, students who earn the College Core in high school may already be finished with their first year of college at a fraction of the cost. To learn more about the Indiana College Core and put together your plan, use My College Core and work closely with your school counselor.

What is FAFSA?

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important document for determining if you’re eligible for financial aid — money to help you pay for education and training beyond high school. The easiest way to file the FAFSA is online at FAFSA.gov.

After you file your FAFSA, your college will be able to tell you which scholarships and grants you could receive, as well as how much money you can borrow in federal loans. To find out more about the FAFSA, including what kinds of state financial aid is available, check out Learn More Indiana’s FAFSA guide for Hoosiers.

Order a Transcript

If you are part of the graduating class of 2016 (or later), you can now order your transcripts online! Simply watch our helpful instructional video, and place your order at Parchment using your existing user account.

We are sorry, but all graduating classes prior to 2016 must request transcripts the “old-fashioned way.” Give us a call or email us, and we’ll get to your request as soon as possible. (There is a nominal fee associated with these requests.)

Planning Your Schedule

Choosing a high school course of study is an important decision. The choices you make now can either expand or limit your future opportunities. We created a scheduling guide to help you navigate your way through the scheduling process and choose the curriculum path that is best suited to your interests, strengths, and goals. Please read the important information provided in this guide, and discuss its options with your parents before scheduling your upcoming classes. If you have any questions, contact your counselor using the information below.
